Elegant, Classy, and Full of Joy – Cameron & Julianna’s Engagement at the Detroit Institute of Arts
When Cameron and Julianna reached out about their engagement session, they had a clear vision: elegant, classy, and fun. Julianna’s Pinterest inspo boards were full of timeless black-and-white imagery, playful blurry shots, and that effortlessly chic vibe that makes you pause and smile. Think Audrey Hepburn meets modern romance—with a splash of laughter and spontaneity.
They were drawn to a downtown aesthetic, something with tall buildings, grand staircases, and a bit of that city magic. We knew instantly that the Detroit Institute of Arts would be the perfect backdrop. The architecture is stunning, the atmosphere refined, and the steps and columns gave us everything we needed for their classic-meets-modern vibe.
From the moment they arrived, Cameron and Julianna were an absolute joy to photograph. Their chemistry was undeniable—teasing each other, bursting into laughter, exchanging little glances that said a thousand words. I barely had to give any direction. They were so genuinely wrapped up in each other that every moment we captured felt real, unposed, and full of love.
Some of my favorite shots from the session are the ones where they forgot the camera was there—the blurry, in-between moments where their connection really shines. And yes, we leaned into those black-and-white edits too, giving their gallery that timeless feel Julianna had dreamed about.
